Everyone will be the best that they can be
Everyone has a voice
No-one is excluded
We are committed to putting the children at the heart of everything we do, through our holistic approach to education. We know that children learn best when they are in an environment that is responsive to their needs. Our school is able to meet these needs, providing a positive and stimulating experience unique to each individual that also ensures their full educational entitlement.
Strategic Aims
The strategic aims for the Learn to Live Federation are to:
- Improve learner outcomes;
- Enhance our provision and facilities;
- Have clear and consistent communication channels between all stakeholders (internal and external);
- Ensure financial stability;
- Ensure expertise and leadership for all;
- Empower families and communities;
- Keep everyone safe.
We will strive for Ellen Tinkham School to continue to be a successful, highly regarded educational establishment within Devon’s Local Authority. This statement is based not only on our robust curriculum and our approach to education, but also on the challenges we set ourselves and innovative ways in which we continue to question our practice in order to improve outcomes for all.
Attendance
Every child has a right to access education, and everyone is responsible for supporting and promoting excellent school attendance and punctuality. The Learn to Live Federation is committed to providing the highest quality of education to our pupils and we recognise the clear link between attendance and
the attainment of our pupils.
We take a whole-school approach to maintaining regular attendance and to achieve this, all members of our school community have an important contribution to make. It is vital that we work in partnership to ensure that any in-school or out-of-school barriers are removed at the earliest opportunity, this is achieved through early and meaningful support.
We support parents to perform their legal duty to ensure their children of compulsory school age attend school regularly and in addition, promote and support punctuality when attending lessons. We are committed to taking positive action in the line with the Equality Act (2010) regarding the needs of people with protected characteristics. These are age, disability, pregnancy and maternity, religion and belief, race, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment and marriage and civil partnership. We make reasonable adjustments to avoid anyone with a protected characteristic being placed at a disadvantage. Our relentless approach to ensuring our pupils attend school and receive the education that they deserve, and are entitled to, is central to our school values.
It is our duty to strive for a goal of 100% attendance for all pupils so that they can take full advantage of the opportunities offered. It is vital that your child is at school, on time, every day the school is open, unless the reason for absence is unavoidable. If your child will be absent from their education, please phone the Office by 8.30 am daily.
We thank you for your support.
