Curriculum

The Learn to Live Federation vision is that:

  • Everyone will be the best that they can be
  • Everyone has a voice
  • No one is excluded

Curriculum Overview

The Learning to Live Curriculum has been developed to fully embrace our Federation Vision which guides our pedagogy and practice. Our curriculum is structured into three pathways, considering pupils’ starting points whilst ensuring high aspirations. This includes our Early Years Paths, Engagement Path and Subject Specific Path.

During our pupils learning journey, through our key stage model, pupils build on prior skills and knowledge using termly themes. In Key Stage 4, where appropriate, pupils begin to access nationally recognised qualifications to recognise their levels of attainment to prepare for their futures. Our curriculum pays particular attention to the development of communication skills and life skills, to prepare pupils for their best possible futures.

We pride ourselves on ensuring that our curriculum is fully adaptable to personalisation, underpinned by pupils pertinent next steps, as identified within their Education, Health & Care Plan Annual Review (Pupil-Centred Reviews) where Home-School Agreement Targets are set.

Teaching and Learning

At Ellen Tinkham, we want our teaching to be appropriate and meaningful for our pupils so that they can make a positive contribution to their own local community and the wider society. We work in partnership with parent carers and other professionals, to ensure that we both challenge and support our pupils, to enable them to become successful learners. These successes are based upon our shared high expectations, relationships, understanding, engagement and enjoyment. By enabling the development of effective and meaningful communication, we aim to promote the independence, self-confidence and self-esteem of all our pupils.

Everyone will be the best they can be; Everyone has a voice; No-one is excluded.
